This policy explains what information Gulf Driving Prep collects on the website gulfdrivingprep.com and in the Gulf Driving Prep apps (for example UAE Driving Theory Test Prep and Saudi Driving Theory Test Prep), why, and the choices you have.

Gulf Driving Prep is run by Rifat Hossain, an individual developer based in Bangladesh ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].

The short version

  • There are no accounts. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number to use the site or the apps.
  • Your practice progress (answers, mock-test results, streak) is stored on your own device and isn't sent to us.
  • We use a small number of services for hosting, analytics, crash reports and ads. Where the law requires it, analytics and personalised ads run only after you agree.
  • We never sell your personal information.

Website

Progress on your device. Practice answers, mock-test results and your streak are saved in your browser's storage (localStorage and sessionStorage). They stay on your device and are deleted when you clear your browser's site data.

Hosting. The website is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

Cookie-free statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you.

Google Analytics. Google Analytics helps us understand which pages are useful. It uses cookies and collects data such as pages visited, approximate location (country/region) and device type. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland it runs only if you agree, through our consent banner (Google Consent Mode keeps it off by default there). Elsewhere it is on by default. Anyone can change their choice at any time from the "Privacy choices" link in the footer.

Advertising (with consent where required). The website may show ads from Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to show and measure ads, and to personalise them if you agree. Where required, you are asked first; without consent you may see non-personalised ads. Ads are never shown during a mock test. See Google's advertising policies.

Apps

Progress on your device. Your answers, mock-test results, study plan and purchases are stored on your phone. Uninstalling the app deletes them.

The apps use these services (each app's privacy page lists them in a table):

  • Firebase Analytics: how the app is used (screens, features), approximate location and device information, to improve the app.
  • Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports with device and app information, to fix problems.
  • Firebase Remote Config: settings and content corrections delivered without an app update.
  • Google AdMob: ads in the free version. In the EEA and UK you're asked for consent first; on iPhone, Apple asks whether the app may track you, and the advertising ID is used only if you allow it.
  • Google Play / Apple In-App Purchase: one-time purchases and restoring them. Payment details are handled entirely by Google or Apple; we never see them.

Audio packs. If you choose to download audio, the files come from our file host, which processes standard technical data (such as your IP address) to deliver them.

Why we use information (legal bases)

  • To run the site and apps and keep them secure (our legitimate interest in providing a working service).
  • Analytics and personalised ads where you have consented, or otherwise our legitimate interest in understanding and funding a free service, as local law allows.
  • To process purchases you make (performing our agreement with you).

Sharing

We share information only with the service providers named above, who process it for us or as independent controllers under their own policies (Google, Cloudflare, Apple). We may disclose information if the law requires it. We don't sell personal information.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States and the European Union, under their own safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses).

How long data is kept

On-device data stays until you delete it. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months; crash reports for up to 90 days; other providers keep data under their own policies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law and the EU/UK GDPR, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your data-protection authority. Because we don't hold accounts, much of your data never reaches us; for anything we or our providers hold, email [email protected] and we'll help.

Ad and analytics choices: use the "Privacy choices" link on the website; in the apps, use your phone's settings (advertising ID, tracking) or the app's privacy settings.

Children

Gulf Driving Prep is meant for people preparing for a driving licence and isn't directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA). We don't knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

We'll update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site or in the apps.
